It has been observed that when we are riding a wave of good fortune, we draw on sources of vibrant, positive information: we seek out people who see the world vividly, deeply, and whole.
Our Nizhny Novgorod Encyclopedia is built as a space for exchanging the experience of such people in the Nizhny Novgorod Region — professionals, insiders, and activists from various communities. A regional approach
Every person's experience is valuable to our project. That is why we are not Wikipedia : one of Wikipedia's principles is the deletion of articles of purely regional significance, whereas we believe that any Nizhny Novgorod phenomenon can and should be documented for public access, for the purpose of extracting useful information and practical benefit. A collection of local information helps visitors better understand the Nizhny Novgorod Region, while helping local residents navigate changing conditions and new opportunities more effectively.

Scientists have proven that every person has a field of creativity — a field in which everything comes easily. We believe there are no unsuccessful people, only unsuitable circumstances. Nizhny Novgorod identity. A way of life
Nizhny Novgorod occupies a special place among historic cities : we are "Russia's reserve capital," "the capital of the provinces." It was here, during the Time of Troubles, that the center of the movement to save our state was formed in opposition to a prolonged foreign intervention; it is precisely the Nizhny Novgorod Region that represents a solid union of the most diverse — and once polar — cultures and nationalities of Russia; here lie knowledge-intensive industries, incredible cities of the future are being designed, and a breakthrough in the innovation and information technology industries is being planned; here nuclear weapons are designed, aviation and armored vehicles are built, and submarines and surface vessels are constructed — and there is a sea. In a certain sense, the Nizhny Novgorod region itself can quite serve as a miniature of the country, and Nizhny Novgorod residents can — as they have in past turning points of Russian history — act as bearers of the most forward-looking all-Russian ideas.
In order to strengthen the economic processes in the region that are consonant with the world's entry into the age of the information society, tools are needed for timely and wide-ranging information to every resident of the region about the phenomena of everyday — and above all social — life. The Nizhny Novgorod Encyclopedia is one such tool: a place for gathering, storing, and refining the most effective and practical knowledge about the urban environment.
