The Veselovskaya Estate (official name: the Estate of Ye. V. Veselovskaya) is a historic pre-revolutionary mansion with an outbuilding in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, located at Bolshaya Pecherskaya Street. The building is part of the Historic Buildings of the Upper Part and is held in Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Sale of the Outbuilding

In April 2014, the Ministry of State Property and Land Resources of Nizhny Novgorod Region made its first attempt to sell the estate's outbuilding at auction; however, the bidding was declared void as only one application was submitted.[1]

In June 2014, the auction was held again. The outbuilding, with a floor area of over 210 sq. m, was offered at a starting price of 12.88 million rubles. Entrepreneurs Vladimir Talanov and Tatyana Makarova participated in the bidding, but the winner was Boris Gorelik, General Director of the Triumf Group. The property was sold at the starting price of 12.88 million rubles. In 2019, the Nizhny Novgorod Region's state heritage protection authority inspected the condition of the outbuilding: experts found no cause for concern regarding the structural elements, but the façade and roof were deemed in urgent need of repair; the owner prepared and approved project documentation and entered into a contract with a licensed organization to carry out works on the heritage property. For the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod, celebrated in 2021, restoration of the estate's façades and roof had been planned; however, in 2020, instead of restoration work, a fourth floor was added to the outbuilding.[2][3][1]

The estate was built in 1839 to a design by architect G. I. Kizevetter; interior finishing was completed in 1840; the client was Ye. V. Veselovskaya, née Demidova. In 1848, a single-story stone vestibule with a basement was added to the wing of the building facing Malaya Pecherskaya Street (now Piskunova Street); by the mid-19th century, the western part of the estate comprised a two-story wooden house, stone and wooden outbuildings, a stable, carriage sheds, a storeroom, a wood shed, and a laundry, while the eastern part contained a garden with a gazebo. In 1901, the estate's main house was purchased by the Ministry of Finance, which housed the treasury chamber there; in 1902, the building underwent major renovations, and the entrances from Bolshaya and Malaya Pecherskaya streets were given two-column porticos.[2]
