The wing of the Nenyukov Estate is a historic residential building, a cultural heritage site, located at Chernigovskaya Street (sections V, V1, V2, V3) in the Nizhegorodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. By 2022, the building was in a dilapidated condition.

Condition and Planned Reconstruction

The façade of the neighboring building at 15A Chernigovskaya Street was renovated as part of preparations for the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.[1] The wing itself (sections V, V1, V2, V3) had by that time been declared dilapidated and designated for reconstruction.[2]

In January 2022, the administration of Nizhegorodsky District announced plans to relocate the wing's residents by the end of 2022 under the Relocation of Citizens from Dilapidated Housing program. After the relocation, the building was to be reconstructed with its historic appearance preserved.[2] The other apartment buildings on Chernigovskaya Street were not declared dilapidated and were not subject to demolition or reconstruction. In July 2024, the municipal institution "City Center for Urban Planning and Architecture" announced the results of a competition for the installation of architectural and decorative façade lighting on Chernigovskaya Street: the winner was OOO Vershina, which offered a price of 20.75 million rubles against a starting purchase price of 27.3 million rubles; the list of buildings on which the lighting structures were to be installed included the main house and the wing of the Nenyukov Estate, and the contractor was required to complete all work by August 15, 2024.[3][1]

In January 2021, at a session of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma, a decision was made to transfer the wing of the Nenyukov Estate from municipal ownership to state ownership of the Nizhny Novgorod Region — among seven historic sites in Nizhegorodsky District earmarked for reconstruction ahead of the city's 800th anniversary.[4]

Residents also expressed concerns that the compensation proposed by the administration for the requisitioned premises would not reflect their market value; in the event of refusal to accept compensation, the City Hall intended to evict the owners by court order.[5]
