Sergachsky District is located in the southeastern part of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, bordering Buturlinskiy District, Knyagininsky District, Spassky District, Pilninskiy District, Krasnooktyabrskiy District, and Gaginsky District Districts.
About the District
Sergachsky District currently belongs to the group of southern agricultural districts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, with crop farming predominating in the agricultural sector. At the same time, the district also produces industrial goods, of which approximately 90% is accounted for by the output of JSC Nizhegorodsakhar.
The district publishes the following newspapers: Sergachskaya Zhizn (Sergach Life), founded by the district administration, and Tugan-Yak, a newspaper in the Tatar language. There are 2 local television channels: MU Sergach-TV and OTV LLC. Active civic organizations include societies for the disabled, veterans, and the visually impaired.
