«Ruspolymet» is a Russian metallurgical and metalworking company located in the Kulebaki in Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was established in 2005 through the merger of JSC KMZ (Kulebaki Metallurgical Plant) and CJSC KKPZ (Kulebaki Ring Rolling Plant). From 2016 it operated as a public joint-stock company (PJSC Ruspolymet); in 2022 it was reorganized as a joint-stock company.[1]
Production and Development
The company's core specialization is ring rolling. Since 2006, it has supplied rings for aircraft engines to the Canadian division of engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney.[1] In 2010, the most powerful ring rolling mill in Russia, manufactured by SMS Meer, was commissioned at the plant; that same year an agreement was signed with the Italian company Danieli for the construction of a mini-metallurgical plant using continuous casting and rolling technology, though by 2013 delays in equipment delivery were reported.[1]
In December 2011, the open-hearth furnaces were shut down entirely and a new steelmaking complex was put into operation. In 2013, the section rolling shop and the "Stan 750" mill were taken out of service.[1]
Ownership Structure
As of end of 2012, 69.07% of shares were held by Motor-Invest LLC, controlled by the plant's general director Viktor Klochay. Viktor Klochay serves as chairman of the board of directors of JSC Ruspolymet.[3]; 20.52% belonged to the Start plant. An additional share issue in favor of Rusnano was being prepared but was subsequently abandoned. The Ruspolymet group of companies includes Grankom, an enterprise specializing in powder metallurgy technologies and presenting its developments at aviation and engine-building industry forums.[4][1] In August 2019, Rusatom Engineering Solutions LLC (which specializes in supplying equipment for nuclear power plants) acquired 37% of the company from its owner Sergey Tikhonov.[1]
Participation in Aviation Manufacturing Programs
The Ruspolymet metallurgical plant is included in the production cooperation program for the medium-haul passenger aircraft MC-21-310, together with other Nizhny Novgorod enterprises — the Sokol aircraft manufacturing plant, Gidromash named after V. I. Luzyanin, and the scientific and production enterprise Polyot. The maiden flight of the first serial, fully import-substituted MC-21-310 took place on August 3, 2026, at the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. In 2024, production volume at Ruspolymet grew by 8%; product sales amounted to 30 billion rubles for the plant and approximately 50 billion rubles for the group of companies as a whole. In 2024, development of a new special metallurgy section was under way in Kulebaki; the group's management set a goal to double production volumes in this area.[3] At the same time, the group of companies failed to meet its 2024 financial plan: a sharp rise in the key interest rate made bank lending inaccessible to industrial enterprises, triggering a chain of non-payments.[3] In 2024, the plant manufactured the world's largest hot isostatic press (HIP) for the Ufa Engine Manufacturing Production Association of UEC, enabling the customer to discontinue sending castings to China for processing. For enterprises in the nuclear industry, Ruspolymet manufactured and commissioned two HIP units capable of working with carbon-containing materials, and received an order for a third. In 2024, Ruspolymet delivered the first transport packaging container (TPC) for the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey; the container is designed for 18 spent fuel assemblies and is certified to Russian safety requirements and IAEA standards; the company began serial production of TPCs and is to manufacture three more containers for Rosatom within a year and a half. In 2026, Ruspolymet participated in the multi-format exhibition "Great All-Russian," which opened at the Nizhny Novgorod Pakgauzy (warehouse pavilions) and was timed to mark the 130th anniversary of the 16th All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896; the enterprise had participated in that historic exhibition.[4][3]
