Lenin, Vladimir "Ilyich" Ulyanov, born 10 (22) April 1870 — died 21 January 1924 — public figure, Meme, founder of the Soviet state, Leader of the World Revolution.

According to some sources, he was conceived in Nizhny Novgorod, where his parents lived and taught for a time, in the building of the Pedagogical University on Minin Square; according to others — in City of Arzamas. He was born in Ulyanovsk (then Simbirsk).
It has been claimed that Lenin's father, Ilya Nikolaevich Ulyanov, was of Erzya ethnicity (a son of a former Erzya serf from Nizhny Novgorod Governorate, Nikolai Ulyanov — also spelled Ulyanin — who was married to Anna Smirnova, the daughter of an Astrakhan townsman descended from a family of baptized Chuvash).
