«Birzha» ("The Exchange") was a Nizhny Novgorod business weekly published from 1991 to 2011. It was one of the first business periodicals in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Around the weekly there formed a publishing group of the same name, which produced several thematic supplements and standalone publications under the «Birzha Plus» brand.

The publishing house also included online outlets — Birzha.ru (the online version of the publishing house's newspapers, launched in 2010) and Birzhaplus.ru (the website for the «Birzha Plus» line).

History and Leadership

In 2009, the Birzha publishing house was acquired and relaunched by entrepreneur Ilya Osipov — founder of the Nizhny Novgorod internet portal NN.ru.ru" title="Статьи ещё нет — предложить создание">the Nizhny Novgorod internet portal NN.ru, the social app Numbuster, the educational startup i2istudy, and the hardware startup Wowcube (Cubios Inc.).[1]

The weekly's editorial team from 1991 to 2011 was headed by Vladimir Viktorovich Lapyurin — a journalist who, before joining «Birzha», had served as editor-in-chief of the regional youth Leninskaya Smena (newspaper))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))» and as deputy editor-in-chief of regional television. Concurrently, from 1992 to 2011, he headed the information and advertising agency «Birzha Plus», under which a cluster of specialized publications was produced.

At various times, the newspaper employed Nizhny Novgorod journalists and media managers, including Alexey Nikolaevich Prosheltsov.
