Vad — a selo (a larger village), the administrative center of Vadskiy District of Nizhny Novgorod Region. It is situated on the Vadok River Vadok (a tributary of the Pyana River).
The name derives from the Erzya word ved' — "water".
Founded in 1552. By the 17th century it had grown into a large settlement.
The selo is home to a Natural monument — Vad Lake.
