Tumbotino — a working-class settlement in Pavlovsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region.

From the history

It is believed that Tumbotino was founded at the same time as Pavlovo, though it should not be forgotten that the influx of Russian settlers into these lands began long before Ivan the Terrible's Kazan campaign. The first settlers were peasants from Vladimir, Suzdal, and Rostov who had fled serfdom and land shortages. The area offered ample arable land, game in the forests, and well-stocked rivers. Moreover, at that time there were no feudal estates in these lands. After Ivan the Terrible's campaign against Kazan, the flow of settlers intensified.
