He can hold any objects made of magnetic metals against his body, according to statements by the regional press. When pressed to the body, he can suspend a hammer, wrenches, and other heavy objects in the air.
The Story in Detail
The Nizhny Novgorod Region is home to individuals possessing supernatural abilities — so several communist-leaning newspapers informed their readers in February 2010: the exposé paper "Leninskaya Smena (newspaper)" and the tabloid "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
One such individual is Nikolay Libaev, a resident of Bolshoe Boldino. Like a magnet, he attracts any iron objects to himself. The 50-year-old Boldino native discovered this gift in himself only recently. One day he saw a television program about human magnets.
"To be honest, I always doubted those kinds of tricks," he admits. "So I decided to try it myself. Because, when you think about it, how am I any different from them? They're people just like me."
At first nothing came of the attempt. Knives and forks wouldn't stay on his body for even a second. But Nikolay didn't give up — and for good reason. Already on the verge of despair, he held a fork up to his chest and it suddenly "magnetized" itself to him. Libaev tried the same thing with a wrench — and once again, success!
"I couldn't believe my eyes," the man recounts. "I did it again and again, and it clung to my body like a suction cup."

Now any piece of iron is drawn to the human magnet — to his own delight and that of his fellow townspeople, who take pride in having such a unique individual living among them.

- Nikolay Libaev believes his gift may have come after he witnessed a UFO flying through the sky.
"It's quite possible that it somehow altered my energy field," reflects Nikolay Vasilevich. "I won't claim anything for certain, but I'm trying to understand how I became a 'magnet'."
- Nikolay's head also possesses the ability to attract and hold heavy objects, which is extremely rare among "magnetizers."
