"The Largest Mass Kiss ("The Most Romantic Event in the City")" — a political record-breaking event. According to an announcement by its organizers, the Young Guard of United Russia, it is scheduled for September 12, 2010 at 20:00 on Minin Square. It is intended to be the largest mass kiss in the history of Russia and Nizhny Novgorod. Around 5,000 people are expected to participate.
The stated goal of the event is to invite Nizhny Novgorod residents to a celebration and surpass the record set in Mexico for the greatest number of couples kissing simultaneously (20,000). Another intended outcome of the event, according to a statement by Mayor Vadim Bulavinov, was to award Nizhny Novgorod the title of "City of Love."
Nature of the Phenomenon
The aim of the event is to demonstrate that gazing upon one's native city and following the social agenda of one particular political party produces an orgasm in young organisms.
Organizers' Explanations
| I myself have taken part in flash mobs organized by the "Mass Kiss" project
And I know the organizers of this project. Yes, United Russia helps them with it. But no one is using anyone :D These flash mobs are organized to tell The Peoples of Nizhny Novgorod about September 12. So that kids don't wander around courtyards all summer. So they don't drink alcohol. Isn't it wonderful to bring a fairly large number of people together and play games like "Brook," "Spin the Bottle," "Crocodile" — games that many people have probably already forgotten. New people, new acquaintances. |

Discussion
Opinions of Nizhny Novgorod Residents
| Something got to me.
Where, as they say, is this country headed? So witnesses posted photos of activists promoting the United Russia event "the largest mass kiss" (this event, by the way, started taking shape and receiving UR support at the same time as the wildfires situation — apparently to divert attention), and the photos show some guys in an official Mercedes with "aaa" plates who were apparently directing the kids on Pokrovka. Then the thread was swarmed by schoolkids from "VKontakte"... And what do we see? 1) Demands for some kind of "proof" ) 2) Undisguised rudeness. 3) Cheap schoolyard posturing. 4) They genuinely (?) believe that it was "United Russia" specifically that provided money for road construction :) 4) One particularly "cool" United Russia fanboy writes: "It's not about love... it's about THE LARGEST MASS KISS if you've got a partner, come along and get your names into the Guinness Book of Records. :) And if you don't have a girlfriend, keep on writing negative posts." ..... Does he really hope that his name specifically will be entered in the Book of Records? And the most telling thing — the way this person tries to insult his opponents is by implying they supposedly have no girlfriend. Meaning that having a girlfriend is apparently the highest value for this individual. You can steal, rob, screw geese, as long as you "have a girlfriend." This rude, frustrated school crowd, with its complex of sexual adequacy — are these really the future supporters of United Russia in Nizhny Novgorod???? Well, in any case, "It's not about love... it's about THE LARGEST MASS KISS" — at least that's written honestly... |
Response from the Organizers
| I'll address each point in turn:
0. The event is still being organized as we speak. Everyone has their own role and purpose. So what was your purpose, post creator, when you made this post? To be rude? And why are you wasting time on this instead of doing something useful? Do you think I can't see this is a paid hit piece written by the hands of NN.RU (from JUST RUSSIA) — if they're paying you money, you could at least think about what you're writing… instead it just came out as: "blah-blah-blah." Very sad, NN.ru. :( 1. The Largest Mass Kiss is when a record number of couples who love each other kiss at the same time (husband and wife, a guy and his girlfriend…), and it lasts 15 seconds. Where did "the longest kiss" come from? There's nothing vulgar about it. Oh, excuse me, opponents of the event. If you want to organize a flash mob for mass self-gratification in front of a screen, go right ahead. 2. Alcohol in the photo. Point 1: all the organizers lead exclusively healthy lifestyles. And enough of the comments along the lines of "I saw it, that's just how it is, that's my opinion" — show me the photo. Point 2: the people in the photo are not participants in the event. O_o. Point 3: the initiative group runs voluntary flash mobs; no one is barred from attending… and whether citizens obey the law is not for the organizers to judge. But in general, as my girlfriend put it… People who write stuff about guys with beer (see above) are usually the kind of young men who soil themselves at the sight of someone snatching a girl's purse. :) 3. Your opinion of the party. United Russia is a strong party that has supported / supports / will support good ideas. And if all you can produce is garbage, then yes, I agree — this isn't for you. |

2010. "The Irony of Love"
01.03.2010 13:00 R52.ru Nizhny Novgorod wins The Largest Mass Kiss event and earns the premiere of the romantic comedy "The Irony of Love"
On February 14, the creators of the film "The Irony of Love" held The Largest Mass Kiss event in 13 cities across Russia. Those wishing to take part came to a designated location on Valentine's Day to give their other half a kiss and win a "star" premiere of the new romantic comedy "The Irony of Love" — from the creators of the "Love Carrot" trilogy — for their city. The most amorous Russians turned out to be the residents of Nizhny Novgorod. More than 50 people in that city were not shy about the gathered crowds and media and proved the warmth of their feelings and their desire to win the competition.
The prize at stake was the premiere of a comedy in which the lead role is played by Aleksey Chadov. For the first time the actor takes on the unusual role of a shy, bespectacled mama's boy. The "nerd" Vanya is pursued by a young socialite who has bet her friends she can win him over. Naturally, a strict mother played by Irina Rozanova stands guard over her son's peace and quiet. The residents of the winning cities will be the first to enjoy all the comic situations the characters find themselves in. In addition to Aleksey Chadov and Irina Rozanova, the film features Asel Sagatova, Natalya Rudova, Olga Orlova, Artur Smolyaninov, and Gosha Kutsenko. The film will go into wide release in Russia and the CIS on March 25, 2010.
The premiere in Nizhny Novgorod will take place on March 20.

The Mayor's official explanation for why the record was not set
| Nizhny Novgorod. September 13. NTA-Privolzhye — The Head of Nizhny Novgorod, Vadim Bulavinov, has expressed regret that residents of Nizhny Novgorod were unable to set a Guinness World Record during The Largest Mass Kiss event on City Day last Sunday.
The mayor made the statement following an operational meeting on Monday. According to Bulavinov, approximately 6,000 couples took part in the event. "This tells us that our people are shy and modest — they don't like kissing in public," the mayor stressed. As previously reported, the event was organized with the aim of uniting Nizhny Novgorod residents in pursuit of a shared goal: to surpass the Guinness World Record and earn Nizhny Novgorod the title of "City of Love". |
Discussion of the event's results
"Heartfelt congrats to everyone on the victory"
| Guys! Heartfelt CONGRATS to everyone on the victory.
Let me tell you how I found out. So, at this moment (13.09.2010 09:38) there's nothing anywhere. Not on the site, not on the Young Guard site, not on VKontakte. The chat on the record page is also quiet. It was just me and one girl (she didn't know either). BUT!!!! At the bottom of the recordkiss.ru page (don't think of it as advertising) there's a LIVE LANDLINE PHONE NUMBER! I wasn't lazy — I called. A young man answered and said we recorded 11,024 couples and they are currently conducting a recount and preparing documents for the Guinness Book of Records!!!! SINCE the previous record was something like 8-something thousand — WE WON (apparently). And the "apparently" is a direct quote. The record hasn't been officially recognized by Guinness yet. And by the way, the kiss group on VKontakte got banned. That's what the guy said!! Guys! Are you really so worn out by the daily grind? We won such a competition — and you're all still moaning about production and GDP? You still haven't figured out that no one will ever help you, that you have to help yourself. And YOU SHOULD REJOICE AT EVERY PLEASANT LITTLE THING (and this is hardly a little thing) — because it might never have happened at all. IN SHORT, HOORAY!!!!!!! |

Nizhny Novgorod — City of Love! Dear Nizhny Novgorod residents, we registered 11,024 couples, but according to the latest count approximately 6,000 couples actually took part. |
