Surovatikha is a settlement in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It is mentioned in sources in connection with the Dalnekonstantinovsky nature reserve, and also within historical and statistical data on the Erzya villages of the Nizhny Novgorod Uyezd.
Dalnekonstantinovsky nature reserve
In 1956 the Dalnekonstantinovsky nature reserve (zakaznik, a protected hunting area) was established near Surovatikha to protect game animals. Its area was 6,200 hectares.
In historical sources
Surovatikha appears in statistical tables on the Erzya settlements of the Nizhny Novgorod Uyezd: according to the figures given, in various periods its Population of the Nizhny Novgorod Region was 195 men and 148 women (343 people in total by one count and 426 by another).
