The series of drone attacks on the Nizhny Novgorod Region in August 2026 refers to a succession of strikes by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against the region's territory over the course of August 2026. The Chronicle: August 2026 records several episodes: the Drone attack on Nizhny Novgorod, August 4, 2026, the Drone Attack on Nizhny Novgorod, 12 August 2026, and the largest attack, which took place on the night of 18–19 August. That last episode was the most significant in terms of the number of drones intercepted.
Attack on 4 August

Attack on 12 August

Attack on the night of 18–19 August
The most large-scale episode in the series occurred on the night of 18–19 August 2026. Forces of the Russian Ministry of Defence, units of the Rosgvardiya, and fighters of the Bars NN" intercepted and destroyed 52 UAVs.[3][4][5] Preliminary data indicated no casualties among the region's residents.[3]
Two private homes, outbuildings, and several vehicles were damaged by falling debris; windows were blown out in one apartment block.[5] Emergency services worked at the debris fall sites to assess the scale of the damage. Gleb Nikitin stated that all those affected would receive assistance.[4]
An administrative case was opened in connection with this episode: a resident of Kstovo District was fined for posting online a video showing the location where a UAV had come down.[4] A detailed account of the night-time strike is contained in the dedicated article "Drone attack on Nizhny Novgorod Oblast 19 August 2026."
Early August: attacks in other regions
During the same period, UAV strikes were recorded across the country. On 18 August, air-defence forces destroyed 65 fixed-wing UAVs over the course of 12 hours above several regions — Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Tula Regions, Krasnodar Krai, Adygea, Crimea, and the Black Sea.[1] On the night of 19 August, two attacks on Sevastopol were also repelled: 13 UAVs were destroyed, and grass fires were recorded in the Balaklava District.[2]
