he Nagornaya (upper) part of Nizhny Novgorod, only Gagarin Avenue is longer. It begins at Sennaya Square and leads to the Verkhniye Pechory neighbourhood.

The street is named after Mikhail Ivanovich Rodionov. M. I. Rodionov was first secretary of the Gorky Obkom) and gorkom (city Party committee) of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), and chairman of the Gorky City Defence Committee (GGKO) in 1941-1943. On 8 May 2010, a memorial plaque dedicated to Mikhail Ivanovich Rodionov was ceremonially unveiled at 9 Rodionova Street.
