Panoramic Avenue

Gagarin Avenue, colloquially: Gagarina (formerly: Myzinskoe Highway, Voroshilovskoe Highway, Arzamasskoe Highway) — the main north-to-south transport artery of the Upper Town of Nizhny Novgorod, running through Sovetsky District and Prioksky District Districts. It begins at Lyadov Square, passes by Shveytsariya Park, Myza, and Scherbinki, and upon leaving Nizhny Novgorod splits into two highways: one leading to Arzamas, the other to Bogorodsk and Pavlovo.

Interesting Facts

  • In the 1990s, the section of Gagarin Avenue near the site of Academician Sakharov's exile (the Sakharov Museum and Academician Lebedev Street stops) was officially renamed "Sakharov Avenue."
