Since 1971 – teaches at Lobachevsky University (NNGU), since 1993 – head of the department of social philosophy. Author of more than 150 scholarly publications. From 1989 to 1991 – secretary of the obkom (regional Party committee) of the CPSU, since 1998 – 1st secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod obkom of the CPSU.
