The Nizhny Novgorod State Regional Television and Radio Company "NNTV" is a regional broadcasting organization operating as a state-funded public institution. According to Wikipedia, it is considered the oldest and best-known regional television channel in Russia.[1] The state institution "NGOTRK 'NNTV'" serves as the parent structure of the largest Nizhny Novgorod Region, which, in addition to the NNTV television and radio company, includes the Volga24 and the Vremya N News Agency.[2]
History and Management
Since 1991, the post of NNTV director has been held by Olga Noskova — a journalist who began her career at Gorky Television as far back as 1977. She has served as the author and host of political talk shows, including the programme series "Deystvuyushchiye Litsa" ("Principal Players") and "Pravo Slovo" ("Fair Enough"). Noskova is an Culture (nnov.ec) of the Russian Federation, a Candidate of Philological Sciences, and an academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, as well as chairwoman of the board of the Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Region since November 2006.[1]
Nizhny Novgorod Context
The channel has repeatedly been cited as a platform that shapes the regional agenda. In particular, NNTV's narrative regarding the activities of Governor Valery Shantsev was characterized by coverage along the lines of "Nizhny Novgorod's success is Shantsev's achievement."[1] Between 1994 and 1996, the channel broadcast the "Youth Project," through which Elena Khlibko (disambiguation) began her career as a journalist and feature reporter.[1] The NNTV television channel maintains an official channel on the RUTUBE platform with more than 3,300 subscribers, regularly publishing recordings of news broadcasts and original programmes there.[3]
