Magistratskaya Street — runs between Nizhne-Volzhskaya Embankment and Rozhdestvenskaya Street Street, in the area of the old Nizheposadsky market. The name preserves the memory of the magistrate established in early 1699 in Nizhny Novgorod, for which a two-story stone building was constructed on the left bank of the Pochaina River, near the Volga wharves. It burned down many times, and after the fire of 1819, in the course of urban-planning reforms in the lower part of the city, it was demolished as standing "outside the red lines" of the Nizhny Novgorod plan confirmed in 1824 .
