Elena Vadimovna Zagaynova is a Russian scientist in the field of experimental and clinical oncology and regenerative medicine, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a Doctor of Medical Sciences. In April 2020, she was appointed Lobachevsky University named after N. I. Lobachevsky (NNSU).[1]
Academic Activity
Zagaynova's specialization covers experimental and clinical oncology as well as regenerative medicine. Her status as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences reflects federal-level recognition of her work in these fields.[1]
NNSU Leadership
Having taken charge of the university in the year of its 105th anniversary and the year of Nizhny Novgorod's 800th anniversary, Zagaynova outlined a development strategy for the institution as the only classical university in the region, offering every field of study — from physics and mathematics to the humanities and sports sciences. She identified the "reboot" of education as a priority: alongside professional knowledge, graduates should develop a broad range of transferable competencies (soft skills) that employers demand.[1]
Under her leadership, NNSU became involved in a number of major joint projects with the regional government: a Research and Education Center, the Quantum Valley science and technology center, and the construction of an inter-university student IT campus. She summed up the university's course of development with the motto "we need it all," emphasizing the university's participation in every available educational and scientific initiative.[1]
