The position of chief physician of the hospital was held by Zaretsky Yuriy Gennadyevich (born April 13, 1967) — a graduate of the Military Medicine Faculty of Tomsk Medical Academy (1991), who served in the Western Group of Forces (Germany), the Siberian Military District, and other formations until 1999.
The institution's head nurse was Kulyushina Larisa Nikolayevna (born July 31, 1952).
Name
The hospital bears the name of Alexander Mikhailovich Samarin — a Nizhny Novgorod public figure who has a dedicated article in the encyclopedia. The hospital has a primary vascular unit (PVU); however, by mid-2024 it had suspended patient admissions due to a severe shortage of physicians: in the first half of 2024 alone, six specialists left the PVU, and patients diagnosed with stroke were during this period redirected to hospitals in Nizhny Novgorod or Balakhna. The problem of staff attrition affected other departments of the institution as well: the cardiology and neurology wards were closed, the intensive care unit was reduced, and the surgical department faced mounting difficulties. The suspension of the PVU's operations was discussed at a meeting between Nizhny Novgorod Region Deputy Governor Andrey Checherina and regional Health Minister Galina Mikhailova with representatives of veterans' organizations in Dzerzhinsky; residents of the city collected around 7,000 signatures against the closure of the unit and submitted them during a reception in the regional capital.[1]
