Zakharov Boris Vasilyevich (April 4, 1930, the village of Koshkino, now Vachsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Region — July 7, 2003, Nizhny Novgorod) — a Soviet administrative, economic, and Party official, one of the leaders of Gorky Region in the 1970s–1990s.[2]
Education and Early Career
In 1955 he graduated from the shipbuilding faculty of Volga State Academy of Water Transport, and in 1967 from the chemistry faculty of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute named after A. A. Zhdanov.[2] After graduating from the first institution, he worked as a foreman and then as head of the ship-mechanical workshop at the Surazhevsky Shipbuilding Plant in Amur Region.[2]
Party and Soviet Career
From 1957 he Dzerzhinsk, rising from head of a mechanical workshop and deputy chief engineer to secretary of a factory Party committee, Dzerzhinsky City Committee of the CPSU, and second and then first secretary of the Dzerzhinsk City Committee of the CPSU.[2]
From 1971, he served as first deputy chairman of the Gorky Regional Soviet of Workers' Deputies.[2] In December 1975 he took part in the presidium of the 20th Gorky City Party Conference as a member of the Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU.[1] From 1980, he was second secretary of the Gorky Regional Committee of the CPSU.[2] He served as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, 8th through 11th convocations (1972–1985).[2]
From 1987 to 1995, he headed the Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) Regional Council of Trade Unions.[2]
Awards
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labour, and the Order of the Badge of Honour.[2]
Legacy
He lived in Nizhny Novgorod and Bugrovsky Cemetery.[2]
