Beshentsevo — Village as part of Prioksky District Nizhny Novgorod. It has existed since the 19th century. The name is derived from either the word refugees or with an unusual practice that allegedly existed in the 19th century: the villagers supported the mentally ill using funds provided by their relatives.
It is currently known as a high-crime area. It may be a hub for drug trafficking.
