The Essence of the Phenomenon
A village is a medium-sized or small settlement that has historically been the primary type of settlement for Russians.
The name "Village" suggests that the main structures and architectural elements in this settlement are made of wood.

In its basic configuration, it consists of a street with a symbolic gate and a row of farmsteads along it, inhabited by peasants. A typical Village also has a communal well, some kind of work, food supplies, and domestic animals.
Features
In practice, the term “Village” means the same thing as “selo” and is often indistinguishable from it. However, unlike a “selo,” a “village” may not have religious buildings or a separate house for representatives of the authorities and social services (for example, a “village” does not necessarily have a police officer, a doctor, or a landowner). And it does not suffer in the least because of this.
Unlike a khutor or an urochishche, a village is located relatively close to public roads.

The term "Village bumpkin" is also used to describe an ignorant but stubborn person.
