Zakharov Alexey Nikonorovich (1921-2006) — a veteran of the The Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union, colonel (retired). From 22 June 1941 to May 1945 he took part in the fighting against the fascist invaders and was wounded three times. He took part in the Victory Parade in 1945. He served 27 years in the Armed Forces. Member of the Presidium of the City Council of Veterans of War, Labour, the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Bodies, head of the section for work with Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia and holders of the Order of Glory of all three classes.
Achievements
Awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Patriotic War 1st and 2nd class, two Orders of the Red Star, and medals.
The title «Honorary Citizen of the City of Nizhny Novgorod» was conferred by resolution No. 14 of the City Duma of the city of Nizhny Novgorod of 26 April 2000.
