The Lenin Monument on Kominterna Street was erected for the 10th anniversary of the Great October Revolution on the site of the 1905 barricades.
The sculpture is by V.V. Kozlov.
The monument was built with funds raised by the Sormovo District.
Interesting Facts
- An identical monument to the same Lenin was unveiled on the same day — November 7, 1927 — in Leningrad, in front of the Smolny Institute, the "headquarters of the October Revolution."
- The monument's exceptionally athletic proportions — remarkable for a statue of V.I. Lenin — gave rise to its popular ironic nickname: "Schwarzenegger in Old Age."
