Balakhna Double of President Medvedev — a double of President Medvedev found in the city of Balakhna, Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Mikhail Fomin is 38 years old. He works as a security guard, lives in a three-room panel-block five-story apartment building with his mother and a cat, and earns 7,000 rubles a month.
Mikhail's hobbies include cooking.
The Story in Detail
Mikhail Fomin was brought to the attention of the general public by Komsomolskaya Pravda in early 2009. Here is what journalists wrote about him at the time.
A Striking Similarity in Interests
— My resemblance to Medvedev was first noticed by my neighbors, as soon as he became Prime Minister and started appearing frequently on television, — Mikhail smiles. — Then it turned out we have a lot in common beyond just our looks. On the president's website I read that he did weightlifting — so did I; that he's a fan of classic rock — and Deep Purple and Pink Floyd are my favorite bands too.
Last summer at military training exercises my fellow servicemen immediately nicknamed me "the president," — Mikhail recalls on the way to his home. — The Georgians had just attacked Tskhinval at the time, and the command set up a huge television in the barracks on which Medvedev's statements were broadcast again and again.
Minor Everyday Differences
About five years ago Mikhail divorced his wife, but still continues to see his 14-year-old son often — a son who is only a year older than the president's son.
At this point we notice a 32-kilogram kettlebell in one of the rooms and ask him to show off his strength. Mikhail lifts the weight without difficulty, holds it for about ten seconds, and then, exhaling, recalls: "The website mentions the president's intuition? I have that too, only it's a 'culinary' intuition. Sometimes I cook completely unknown dishes — that is, I intuitively know what to add, while having absolutely no idea what I'll end up with."
That's how he invented, for instance, an astonishingly tasty baked dish called "potato sausage" and a pasta-ketchup.
The "Presidential Recipe" of the Balakhna Double of Medvedev
| Sauté carrots and onion over low heat. Tip into a deep bowl and add regular tomato paste. Mix everything thoroughly. Nothing special to look at. But now pay attention — add a little soy sauce to the mixture. A wonderful pasta or potato sauce is ready. From the author's recipe book, "Presidential Ketchup" |
Comments from Nizhny Novgorod Residents
| Hey man, go run for president!!! Since you live on 7,000 rubles a month, you know what life is like for ordinary people. And you'll help them get through the crisis, not the banks! Lidiya Chayka (Lokazyuk), Russia, Volga Federal District, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Bor, 58 years old |
| And living on the same street as me is a Putin lookalike. I ran into him once at a bus stop. At first I thought Putin had come to visit, then I realized his suit wasn't right and there's no way Putin would be riding around in a minibus.
