Knyaginino — a town and the administrative center of Knyagininsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The town is known for its milk production ("Knyagininoye powdered milk") and hat-making ("Knyagininskaya sewing factory").

History of Knyaginino's status

From 1779, it was a district town of Nizhny Novgorod Governorate.

In 1926, Knyaginino was demoted to a selo (a larger village), then grew to the status of an urban-type settlement, and in 1998 became a town again — the second-smallest by population in Nizhny Novgorod Region (7,000 inhabitants).
