Doskino is a railway station. Novoye Doskino is a settlement on the northwestern outskirts of Avtozavodsky District, separated from it by forest and fields; the name derives from the villages of Doskino in Bogorodsky District. The railway station and settlement arose in the 1860s during the construction of the Moscow–N. Novgorod railway line on uninhabited land amid forests and marshes. The name was transferred from the opposite bank of the Oka River, where the nearest populated places were located — the selo of Bolshoye Doskino and the village of Maloye Doskino. The railway station's original name was Orlovka, as it was located near the Village of the same name; it was renamed in 1913.
