Kholodny Lane runs diagonally from Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street near the church of the same name. It was originally intended to be a through street, running from Kovalikha Ravine to Pochaina Ravine Ravine. However, the 1824 city plan of Nizhny Novgorod saw only the section between Bolshaya Pokrovskaya and Alekseevskaya Street Street actually built. Architects I. E. Yefimov, P. D. Gotman, and G. I. Kizevetter returned to the idea of extending Kholodny Lane as far as Osharskaya Square between 1834 and 1839. Their project received imperial approval but was never carried out. Kholodny Lane remained confined to the boundaries set by the 1824 city plan.
