The City Forum is a section of Web portal NNRU (nn.ru), existing since the portal's launch and one of its most widely read and actively discussed sections. Along with the Techforum, Autoforum, and Complaints Book, it is among the site's topical forums. In addition to the main City Forum, the NNRU city forums section also includes "City Forum for Newcomers," "Nizhny Novgorod Politics," "Women's Forum," "Men's Forum," "Anonymous Medical Forum," and "Dumb Questions."[1]

Role and Audience

The City Forum stands out among other NNRU sections in that its posts are monitored by city journalists, law enforcement officers, and representatives of municipal authorities. Messages appearing on the forum frequently attract considerable public attention and serve as the starting point for journalistic investigations and official responses.

A Platform for Public Discussion

The City Forum covers a wide range of topics related to life in Nizhny Novgorod: city politics, the activities of officials, and civic initiatives. In particular, it hosted discussions surrounding organizations that presented themselves as representatives of international bodies in the region. The forum has also served as a venue for self-promotion by Nizhny Novgorod inventors and public figures. According to a poll conducted on the City Forum in November 2023, the majority of its active participants are between 40 and 49 years old (53% of votes cast); the second-largest group is 50–59 years old (22%), followed by 30–39 years old (11%); participants under 30 accounted for only 3% of votes.[1]
