In terms of electricity generation the Cheboksary Hydroelectric Power Plant is slightly behind the Avtozavod combined heat and power plant. But in addition to generating electricity, the Avtozavod plant supplies hot water and heating to about 200,000 people. And the Cheboksary plant's land-use figures are twice as poor as the average for Russia's 10 largest hydroelectric plants.
