The Barricades School is located at Kominterna Street, 175. It was formerly a church parish school for workers — the largest of its kind in Russia, no less. Bronze figures of barricade fighters stand frozen in their poses. A bronze inscription reads: "This building and the barricade erected in front of it were the main strongholds of the armed uprising of the Sormovo proletariat on December 12–14, 1905. Here was located the headquarters of the combat brigades and the arsenal of the Sormovo workers, who rose under the leadership of the Bolsheviks in heroic struggle against the despised tsarist regime." Authors: artist V. Malinovsky, architect G. Malkov. The high relief was cast at the Monumentskulptura factory in Leningrad. Building barricades is no longer part of the school curriculum.
