Auto.nn.ru — a Nizhny Novgorod Internet that existed from the late 1990s to 2017. The first snapshot in the web archive is dated December 1998, and the last working one is from July 2017; by the 2020s the site had ceased operating.[2] The resource was one of the oldest Nizhny Novgorod automotive sites and went from being an independent themed portal to the automotive section of the largest NNRU.
History
The resource was created by Mikhail Iosilevich — a Nizhny Novgorod entrepreneur and public activist, one of the pioneers of the Nizhny Novgorod internet.[1] In a 1999 snapshot the resource was named "Nizhegorodsky Automobilny Uzel" (Nizhny Novgorod Automotive Hub).[1]
By the mid-2000s the site was operating under the brand "NNRU Avto — Nizhny Novgorod On-Line" and offered news from automotive companies, classified ads for buying and selling cars, and specialised forums.[2] As of January 2005, the address auto.nn.ru redirected visitors to the section www.nn.ru/biz/auto, which points to the resource's integration into the structure of the NNRU portal.[1]
Content and functionality
During its period of active operation the site covered several categories of vehicles: Cars (new and used), motorcycles, commercial vehicles, trucks and special-purpose vehicles.[2] The section of private and dealer listings allowed cars to be selected by make, model, body type, year of manufacture and price; offers from official dealers were listed separately.[2] The site also hosted sections for auto parts, tyres and wheels, car accessories, as well as forums and car reviews.[2]
At the time the last preserved snapshot was made, in July 2017, the site positioned itself as the "NN.AVTO online car market" and was focused on selling cars in Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region, including used cars and vehicles from Japanese auctions.[2]
