Strelka (archaic: Strelitsa) — a triangular tract of land within the city limits of modern Nizhny Novgorod, formerly part of Kunavino Sloboda, in the Zarechka part of Nizhny Novgorod.
It is a tapering strip of land with a Aleksandra Nevskogo Cathedral and a port at the confluence of the Volga River and Oka rivers.
In the 19th century the Strelka was known as the north-eastern tip of the famous Nizhny Novgorod Yarmarka. In the Middle Ages it was the center of the Nizhny Novgorod Zaochye (Trans-Oka area) district, known collectively as Strelitskiy Stan.
The name Strelka is also given to the spot on the water where the Oka flows into the Volga (or possibly the other way around) : the difference in the color of the water is clearly visible at this point.
There is also a street of the same name.
