Arapovo — a selo in Bogorodsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region, located 60 kilometers to the southwest of Nizhny Novgorod and 20 kilometers to the west of Bogorodsk; the administrative center of the Arapovo rural council, which in addition to the selo itself includes the villages of Vorontsovo, Pobedikha, Sannikovo, Timonino, and Shuklino. The selo has a school, a children's home, a prayer house, and a library.
History
According to one version, the selo got its name from the surname of a landowner — Mikhail Arapov — to whom the lands were granted, as first mentioned in a royal charter of 1606.
