Agafonov, Svyatoslav Leonidovich (1911–2002) — Honored Architect of the Russian Federation, professor at the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering, State Prize laureate, and honorary member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences. He led the restoration work on the The Kremlin, Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, The Church of the Nativity (Stroganov Church), and the chambers of the Makaryev and Pechersky monasteries. He authored a large number of published works on the history of Nizhny Novgorod architecture.
