Akademika Blokhinoy Street (formerly Zagorskogo Street, and before the 20th century — Mistrovskaya Street) begins at Osharskaya Street, crosses Varvarskaya Street, and ends at Kovalikhinskaya Street.
History
The street was first planned in Nizhny Novgorod in 1802 under the name Ivanovskaya; it later took its name from the family name of the owner of the largest estate on it, Major General I. I. Mistrov, of whom N. I. Khramtsovsky wrote: "…a veteran of the age of Catherine II, who took part in many campaigns and battles: he served under Prince Potemkin and beneath the banners of Suvorov; he fought against the mountain peoples in the Caucasus and against the confederates in Poland, and had the honor of escorting the celebrated Kosciuszko to Saint Petersburg…". The street was later renamed in honor of Zagorsky.
