Krestyaninov Evgeniy Vladimirovich was a Nizhny Novgorod politician who died on May 21, 2023, at the age of 74.[1] He was one of the founders of the Regional Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region.[2]

Political Activity

In the early 1990s, Krestyaninov headed the Nizhny Novgorod Council of People's Deputies, which comprised 225 members. Given the sweeping overhaul of the public administration system, such a large body struggled to handle regional affairs effectively. Krestyaninov initiated the creation of the Small Council, which in March 1994 adopted the founding provisions of the future Legislative Assembly and called its first elections.[2]

Public Activity

Krestyaninov headed the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Public Foundation for Social Programs in the Media "Zolotaya Seredina" ("Golden Mean"), registered on March 28, 1996, and located at Meshchersky Boulevard, building 10A. The foundation was dissolved by court order on January 22, 2007, under Article 29 of the Federal Law "On Public Associations"; Krestyaninov had been listed as its chairman since January 20, 2007.[1]

Legacy

The politician's death was announced in his Telegram channel by Lyulin, who described Krestyaninov as "an educated, intelligent, and diplomatic" person who knew how to "find the golden mean in resolving difficult problems." Lyulin offered his condolences to the family and close ones, and noted that "the memory of Evgeniy Vladimirovich will forever remain part of Nizhny Novgorod's history."[2]
