orgenergogaz.r52.ru was the website of the Volgorgenergogaz administration, created, as the home page stated, "as a structural division of OAO Gazprom in 1971"[1]. The administration handled commissioning, installation, and repair of power equipment — first at Gazprom facilities, and later in other branches of industry as well[1]. The site lived in the Nizhny Novgorod domain zone r52.ru and on Nizhny Novgorod hosting: the footer of the home page carried the lines "Coding by 'R52.RU'" and "Hosting by r52.ru"[1]. In our inventory of Nizhny Novgorod Internet, compiled from the nn.ru catalog, it is recorded with the category description "Installation, commissioning, and repair of power equipment". Surviving snapshots of the home page span 2002-2007[1][4].

A single "About the Company" page

Only one section of the site survived — titled "Volgorgenergogaz | About the Company"[1]. This is a corporate business card with no news, price list, or product catalog: two paragraphs about the company and a long list of the kinds of work it did. The saved snapshot text contains no mailing address, phone number, or contact form — nothing that would let us pin down where the administration was actually located.

The site changed extremely rarely. The snapshots from June 5, 2002 and July 20, 2003 match word for word, including the order of items in the list[1][2]. The copyright line "© 2002 'Volgorgenergogaz'" was still in place in 2004[3], and by the 2007 snapshot the year had dropped out of it, along with the developer and hosting-provider credits — only the company's copyright line remained[4]. The text was extracted from the archived snapshots with recognition errors: the abbreviation OOO (LLC) came through as "000", and the voltage figures in the line about electrical equipment testing are not reliably legible.

What the administration did

The home page described thirty years of experience: the administration's specialists "specialized in carrying out commissioning work, and later also in repairing equipment both at Gazprom facilities and in other branches of industry"[1]. It also listed partners: the gas-transport enterprises Volgotransgaz, Mostransgaz, and Tyumentransgaz; the institutes VNIIGaz, Giprogazcenter, VNIIMash, NIIS, and the Center for the Newest Repair Technologies under VGVA; the RUMO plant, the Machine-Tool Plant, the VGVAT experimental plant, and "many foreign firms"[1].

The list of services offered was detailed and technical: electrometric measurements of the condition of metal and protective coatings on tanks, wells, and pipelines; installation, commissioning, and repair of power facilities and electrical and thermal power equipment; installation of automatic control systems at the unit, shop, and station-wide level; repair of rotating surfaces and restoration of part geometry by gas-flame and plasma metal spraying; repair and restoration of shutoff, control, and safety valves of the Du 50-800 mm series on equipment made by "EFCO"; welding of components made from special alloys and non-ferrous metals; diagnostic inspection of equipment using non-destructive testing methods to extend service life; industrial safety expert review with the issuing of findings per the requirements of Russia's Gosgortekhnadzor; and technical oversight of construction quality at gas-industry facilities[1]. Electrical equipment testing was carried out using an electrical laboratory whose name survived the snapshot in a distorted form[1].

The 2004 revision of the list

Between the 2003 and 2004 snapshots the list was rewritten — the only substantive change across the site's entire surviving history. The list was reordered: electrometric measurements and valve repair were moved up, while installation of power facilities and automatic control systems moved down[3]. Two of the twelve items disappeared — "carrying out commissioning work at facilities of any complexity", which had stood first since 2002, and "repair and adjustment of gas-motor compressors and gas engines of any type or system"[1][3]. In their place, the line "Conducting technological tests on gas-using equipment" was added at the end[3]. The page survived in this form through the last snapshot[4].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet, and closure

The site was a signboard, not a venue: it did not draw an audience and took no part in the local network's community life. In the surviving results table of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote for 2004, the domain orgenergogaz.r52.ru does not appear[5]. Nor does it appear in the surviving Counter.nn.ru rating samples we hold: no rank and no visit count was ever recorded for it — what survives from the counter and how to read that data is covered in the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating. For an industrial division, this is the normal state of affairs: the page existed for clients who already knew whom they were looking for.

The last surviving snapshot of the home page is dated March 2, 2007[4]; our sample holds no later versions of the site. By the time of the census of defunct Nizhny Novgorod sites, the address orgenergogaz.r52.ru was no longer working — the domain is marked as non-existent in the inventory. A five-year corporate business card in the r52.ru zone survives only in archived snapshots.
