viagra.nnov.ru was a Nizhny Novgorod medical reference site devoted to the drug "Viagra" (VIAGRA, sildenafil citrate) and other products of the "Pfizer" company. In the nn.ru directory of Nizhny Novgorod sites it was listed under the title "VIAGRA — the world waited thousands of years for this pill" with the description "Viagra — treatment of weak erection. For non-specialists, doctors, dealers and pharmacologists"[3]. A link to it appeared in two medical sections of the Nizhny Novgorod directory at once — "Firms (Enterprises): Medicine: Med. Information"[3] and "Firms (Enterprises): Medicine: Pharmaceuticals (pharmaceutical products)"[5], and attendance was counted by the regional counter Counter.nn.ru under number 2108[4]. Updates to the home page stopped in the spring of 2007[1], and the latest web-archive snapshot is dated 19 June 2025[2].

What the site looked like

The site split visitors into two audiences. As the home page announced, it offered "the most accurate and competent information about the drug VIAGRA * (sildenafil citrate) in Russian, as well as about other drugs of the Pfizer company (USA)"; pharmacologists, dealers and doctors were offered a "For specialists" section, everyone else got "Information for everyone"[1].

The top menu consisted of nine items: "POTENCY:-((", "Erectile dysfunction", "About VIAGRA", "CHECK YOURSELF", "Consultation", "INTERNET", "JOKES:-))", "SPECIALISTS", "EXHIBITIONS". The bottom navigation repeated this split: for non-specialists — "Potency", "About Viagra", "Consultation", "Internet resources", "Self-check questionnaire", "Jokes", "Specialists"; for doctors, pharmacologists and dealers — "Erectile dysfunction", "VIAGRA", "Pfizer company", "Pfizer products", "Internet resources", "Exhibitions, conferences", "Specialists"[1].

A separate column listed twenty Pfizer products, from "Accupro", "Ben-Gay" and "Bonine" to "Tyzine", "Fasigyn" and "Cefobid"[1]. Readers were invited to assess their own condition using a "self-check questionnaire", read answers to frequently asked questions, ask their own question, book an appointment with a sexologist or urologist, and "purchase" the drugs "at an online pharmacy". At the bottom was a disclaimer: "The information on this site is provided for informational purposes only and cannot replace a doctor's consultation"[1].

News feed and content exchange

A significant part of the home page was taken up by a feed of medical news — not about Nizhny Novgorod, but about the nationwide medical agenda: enrollment for clinical residency at the A. V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery (12.04.2007), a new section of the medical-institution directory on the site MEDPOISK.RU (10.04.2007), the resolution of the 10th Congress of the Russian Society of Endoscopic Surgeons on spontaneous pneumothorax (15.03.2007), an announcement of the 11th Moscow International Congress on Endoscopic Surgery[1].

The site also functioned as a small industry hub: visitors were invited to add a link to a site, a news item, an exhibition or a specialist, to subscribe to a mailing list called "VIAGRA.RU", and even to grab a code for republishing the medical news feed on their own page. A counter of editorial activity showed how quiet the resource had become by then: "In the last 30 days added: news — 2, internet links — 0, exhibitions, conferences, seminars — 0, specialists — 0"[1]. The only name left on the page was a contact one: "For all questions, contact Anastasia Ivanova"[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The counter readings that the nn.ru directory printed next to the description changed little: 214 in the snapshot from 25 July 2002[3], 224 in the snapshot from 25 July 2003[4], and 155 in the snapshot from 17 September 2003[5]. For scale: its neighbor in the same "Med. Information" section, the site "Medical Advice", showed 1737 on the same day[3]. Its neighbors in the listings were "Shakhunya Central District Hospital"[4], "Electronic Medical Store" and "Farmkomplekt" LLC[5] — that is, in the local hierarchy this was a mid-traffic topical directory, not a notable portal.

In the surviving table of voting results for the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day in 2004, the site does not appear[6]; no votes for it are recorded in our data. How it stopped

The latest news item on the home page is dated 12 April 2007[1] — after that the page was not updated. The web-archive snapshots from 13 September 2017[1] and from 19 June 2025[2] match word for word: the same nine menu items, the same 2006–2007 news, the same "news — 2" counter for the last thirty days. Almost eight years passed between these two snapshots, and their content did not change by a single line: the site stopped being maintained but kept being served at the same address in the state in which it was left.

The latest web-archive snapshot is dated 19 June 2025[2]. In our list of closed Nizhny Novgorod sites, the domain's status as of a check in August 2026 is marked "parked/empty": there is no longer any content at the address.
