cps.nnov.ru — the site of the Nizhny Novgorod firm "Tsentrpriborservis" (Центрприборсервис, "Central Instrument Service"), later OOO "TsentrPriborServis-NN": sale and repair of cash register equipment, electronic scales and trade equipment, automation of shops, cafes and restaurants. As the home page reported, the company was founded in 1992[1], and its office was located in Nizhny Novgorod at 89 Nevzorovykh Street — "entrance from the courtyard on the right side, office 17 (basement floor)", phone 8 (831) 422-78-22[3]. The site's snapshots in the web archive span more than two decades: the first is dated May 3, 2002, the last — April 9, 2024.

The site of the mid-2000s

The snapshot from July 7, 2007 preserved a page that had clearly been updated much earlier: the title read "Tsentrpriborservis 2004", and at the bottom — "© OOO \"Tsentrpriborservis\", 2003"[1]. The menu consisted of five items — "Home", "About the company", "News", "Prices", "Support" — and beneath them were the sections "How to find us. Our details. Certificates", "Who to contact?", "Cash register equipment. Scales. Trade equipment", "Service center services. Price lists online", "From the legislator on cash registers" and "Miscellaneous"[1].

The product range was laid out in two lists. On sale — stand-alone cash registers, active system cash registers (POS terminals), fiscal registrars, trade and packing scales, receipt and label printers, barcode scanners, price-tag guns and consumables. The service side included preparing cash registers for registration with the Ministry of Taxes, repair and maintenance of cash registers and electronic scales, and implementation of the restaurant program R-Keeper by the firm UCS[1]. The appeal to the visitor was set in capital letters: "IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO OPEN A SELF-SERVICE SHOP OR A RESTAURANT, COME TO US!" — it also stated that the firm's experience in this field was "more than 4 years"[1]. At the bottom was a visitor-counter caption reading "Visits since August 29, 2001"[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site's traces in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the early 2000s are a line in the nn.ru directory and a number in the Counter.nn.ru counter. In the directory, "Tsentrpriborservis" stood in the "Firms (Enterprises)" section under three headings at once: "Computers and office equipment", subheading "Network installation and systems integration"[5]; "Software", subheading "Workstations, accounting and warehouse software, analytics"[6]; "Equipment — production, sale, installation, service", subheading "Trade and exhibition"[7]. The directory description listed the firm's areas of activity: "Trade automation. Electronic trade equipment. Computer systems and networks. Software \"1C\", R-Keeper. Sale and repair of computers, cash registers and electronic scales"[5]. Next to the name was a link to the counter under number 2471 and a rating value: in the 2002 snapshots — 22 in "Computers and office equipment"[5], 7.54 in "Software"[6], and 29 in "Equipment"[7]. In other surviving cross-sections of the same directory from 2002–2003, these lines carried different values; all of them are compiled in our Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating. In the surviving voting table of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day for 2004, cps.nnov.ru does not appear[4].

The cash-register reform

By the late 2010s the site had been redesigned, and a noticeable part of the home page was given over to the transition to online cash registers. The page title listed the firm's areas — trade, cash-register and banking equipment, equipment "for restaurants, cafes, hotels" — and the menu consisted of the items "Home", "Catalog", "News", "Our history", "Contacts"[2]. The firm presented itself as an "Authorized Service Center (ASC) of the most modern multifunctional cash register KKT PTK IRAS — 900 K" and promised "WE WILL SELL, REGISTER, and arrange a Contract with an OFD [fiscal data operator]"[2]. A separate block gave the "implementation deadlines" of the reform: from January 1, 2019 — transition of all registered cash registers to the new fiscal drive format 1.05; from July 1, 2019 — mandatory use of cash registers by all taxation systems, "except for the special list"; from February 1, 2021 — the item name on the receipt for all taxpayers[2].

The news section also recorded other turns: from December 2016 the firm began selling cash registers from the new KKT register and started automating "small — small-scale trade Business on the LiteBox software product"[2]. Alongside it hung a hiring notice: "The automation department has vacancies for energetic students and graduates in the ASU [automated control systems] specialty"[2]. The copyright line at the bottom read "2011 — 2018"[2].

The last version and closure

The snapshot from May 30, 2022 caught the site in its modern form — with a request form, sections "home", "catalog", "services", "send a request", "Delivery", "contacts", and a "Get directions in Yandex Navigator" link[3]. The company called itself an authorized service center for KKT PTK IRAS-900K and KKT PTK MSPOS cash registers, a UCS dealer, and a partner of the fiscal data operator TAKSKOM[3]. Also posted here was a "History in dates": in 1992 the firm started "with the supply and repair of computer equipment"; in 1993, after the law "On the Use of Cash Registers in Cash Settlements with the Population" was passed, its main line of business became the trade sector connected to cash registers — selling registers and setting up a certified service center (TsTO); in 2001 the firm became a partner of the developer of the programs R-KEEPER for food service, SHELTER for hotels, "Premiere" for cinemas, Game Keeper for game zones, and Delivery for delivering restaurant orders[3]. Over 2001–2021, as the home page reported, the firm automated "more than 200 enterprises in the city and region" — cafes, restaurants, cinemas, hotels; it also stated that in 2018 it serviced KKT PTK IRAS 900 K cash-register equipment at the FIFA World Cup[3].

The company details list OOO "TSENTRPRIBORSERVIS — NN" (OOO "TsPS-NN"), INN 5258044837, OGRN 1025202616020[3]. The last snapshot of the site in the web archive is dated April 9, 2024; at the time of our survey the site at cps.nnov.ru does not load. The surviving pages say nothing about the reasons for the closure.
