triakom.net — website of the Nizhny Novgorod company OOO TriAcom, a trading company that combined under one sign three lines of business: wholesale and retail sale of mobile phones under the brand "Liga GSM," a pawnshop issuing short-term loans, and a chain of DVD stores "Video-Style"[1]. The company's administration was located in Nizhny Novgorod on Gruzinskaya Street, house 9, the pawnshop — in the Leninsky District, on Prospekt Lenina, house 76[1]. The first snapshot of the site in the web archive is dated July 11, 2004[1], and the last one that still shows the company's Russian-language page is dated April 14, 2011[3].

The company's site in 2004

The early version of the home page was structured as an "About the Company" narrative listing its lines of business. First came the financial line — "issuance of short-term loans, including against the security of equipment and jewelry"[1]. Customers were promised an individual approach, individual interest rates depending on the collateral, and rewards for regular clients; as the home page put it, "at all times there have been organizations or individuals who lent money against collateral"[1].

The second line was mobile communications. The company called itself a dealer for all seven mobile operators of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and the trademark of its retail chain — "Liga GSM," "formerly known as ROSTEK"[1]. The stores, according to the site, offered more than 40 phone models and more than 100 accessory items, as well as airtime top-up cards and connection to all operators in the city[1]. The page's keywords listed the brands of the time: Alcatel, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, alongside "hands free," "battery," "data cable," "faceplate," "straps"[1].

The third line was the retail sale of DVD discs under the "Video-Style" brand: every day, according to the page, the stores carried about 700 titles of domestic and foreign films[1]. The page closed with the signature "sincerely, the OOO TriAcom team," an address for wholesale partners, opt@triakom.net, and the administrator's contacts: 603001, N. Novgorod, Gruzinskaya St., 9, tel. (8312) 33-59-69 and 30-38-58[1]. The footer carried the line "Developed and maintained by OOO Almadesta Design Studio"[1].

A three-line storefront, 2010–2011

By the late 2000s the site had shrunk to a short title-index page: "OOO TriAcom," below it — "Liga-GSM. Wholesale and retail sale of mobile phones and accessories," "Pawnshop. Loan issuance. Sale of jewelry, household appliances," "Video-Style. Sale and exchange of DVD discs"[2]. The exact same text still appears on the April 2011 snapshot — the page had not changed in four months[3]. There are also changes visible in the business itself: the trade in phones and DVDs had been joined by the sale of jewelry and household appliances — that is, the pawnshop's unredeemed collateral — and the description of the DVD line now mentioned exchange alongside sale[2].

Place in the The Internet

The site entered our census through the lists of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day for 2004[5]. It received no votes and has no entry in the Counter.nn.ru rankings[5]: triakom.net was not a notable presence on the Nizhny Novgorod web. It is a typical corporate business-card site of a local trading firm — a genre that was widespread in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the mid-2000s and has almost entirely disappeared along with the companies that produced it. How it closed

Between April and October 2011 the domain changed hands. In the snapshot from October 15, 2011, the address triakom.net no longer shows the Nizhny Novgorod firm's page but a Japanese-language site with a menu of English words: Menu, Topics, News, Infomation, Pick Up, Mail[4] — a characteristic sign of a domain seized after non-payment. The web archive recorded no Russian-language content after that[6]. As of the time of checking, the domain triakom.net is not registered[6]. Of the company that traded in phones, discs, and pawned gold on Prospekt Lenina and Gruzinskaya, a handful of archived pages remain.
