overnn.ru was the website of the Nizhny Novgorod travel agency "Vokrug Sveta" ("Around the World"), which operated an office on Maslyakova Street in Nizhny Novgorod[1]. In the nn.ru directory (the /rub/ section) the site was listed under the description "seaside holidays on the Black Sea coast, in Nizhny Novgorod Region and Chuvashia, river and sea cruises, bus tours across Russia and Europe." The earliest snapshot of the site in the web archive is dated 5 April 2003.

What the site looked like and what it offered

The earliest surviving snapshot, from 2003, shows the agency under a slightly different spelling — "Tourist Agency 'Vokrug Sveta'" — with a list of foreign tours, sea cruises and sightseeing programs across Europe, as well as Black Sea health resorts: boarding houses and sanatoriums in Sochi, Abkhazia and Crimea. At that time the home page also announced the "development of new routes across the Nizhny Novgorod region"[4].

By 2012 the site had taken on a permanent structure with sections "About the Agency," "News," "Contacts," a site map and a print version. Besides children's summer holidays and New Year programs, it published travel news from around the world. The partner listed was the information service "VOYAGE." The page footer gave the details: "© 2005 Travel Agency 'VOKRUG SVETA,' Nizhny Novgorod, Maslyakova St., 5, office 117, tel.: (831) 434-04-00, 433-18-55, 434-18-05, fax: (831) 433-54-25"[1]. The same contact block remained unchanged in the 2013 and 2014 snapshots[2][3].

In a news item dated 8 October 2013, the site reported: as the home page put it, "We turn 21!"[3] — pointing to the agency's founding around 1992. By 2013–2014 the range had expanded: New Year ferry tours (Cinderella, Princess Anastasia, Princess Maria), trips to the Baltic states and Belarus, sightseeing tours of Saint Petersburg, and an "October Sale" of tours.

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed in the nn.ru directory (the /rub/ section) as a travel-themed resource[1]. In the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru and the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day, no data on overnn.ru's ranking or votes appear — this does not mean the result was zero, only that the site's trace did not make it into the surviving slices (for more on the methodology, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating).

How it closed

The last recorded substantive snapshot of the site dates to 4 January 2014; at that point the agency was still offering a full range of tours and listing working phone numbers and address[3]. By 11 September 2017 the web archive recorded, at the same address, no longer the agency's site but a hosting service page reading "The site you are looking for was not found on our server"[5]. As of the last check, the domain was in parked status, with its current page offering the domain for sale in the RU-CENTER domain store.
