gifts.nnov.ru — the site of the Nizhny Novgorod gift gallery "The Ideal Solution" (Idealnoye Reshenie), a salon of business and souvenir presents on Gorky Street in Nizhny Novgorod[1]. The site began operating on 1 November 2004, as the gallery announced in a separate news item[1]; the gallery itself had already existed for a year by that point[1]. The last surviving snapshot of the home page is dated 17 May 2014[2].
Gift catalog
In the December 2004 snapshot, the site was an online store with a shopping cart, a login form with username and password, registration and password recovery, and a search with a "In catalog / On site" switch[1]. The left-hand column held a catalog of roughly thirty sections: "Figurines," "Silver Plating," "Artificial Stone," "Bronze," "Watches," "Advertising Souvenirs," "Wallets," "Keychains," "Card Holders," "Money Clips," "Writing Sets," "VIP Presents," "Albums," "Business Souvenirs," "Desk Accessories," "Wine Sets," "Smoking Sets," "Game Sets," "Travel Sets," "Multi-tools," "Unusual Gifts," "Barometers," "Easter and Christmas Souvenirs," "Boxes," "Candlesticks," "Vases," "Flowers," "Interior Items"[1]. Judging by the counters next to the section names, only the "New Arrivals" section was populated — ten items — while the rest showed zero[1].
Prices were listed in conventional units. The home page featured eight new items: a seven-piece brandy set (crystal, silver-plated, Italy) for 695 c.u., a "Themis, Goddess of Justice" figurine measuring 34x14 cm for 230 c.u., a "Football" figurine with silver plating, 21x9x17 cm, for 120 c.u., a set with 8x21 binoculars, a compass, a flashlight, a knife and a raincoat for 50 c.u., a "Steam Locomotive" clock 7x4x2.5 cm and a leather card holder for 48 cards at 23 c.u. each, a mouse pad with a calculator for 15 c.u., and a four-piece manicure set for 3 c.u.[1] Alongside was a "Gallery News" archive: 23 October 2004 — "We turn 1!", 26 October — arrival of the OTTAVIANI collection, which, as the home page reported, could be seen "on the pages of our website, as well as in the gift gallery salon"[1].
Address, phone numbers, developers
The footer of the 2004 page carried a postal address and contacts: 603000, N. Novgorod, Gorkogo St., 100, phone (8312) 35-46-45, an email on the site's own domain[1]. It also credited the contractor — "Site developed by Garbuz Development Group"[1]. By 2014 the address in the contacts had changed to Maxima Gorkogo St., 162, and the phone to (831) 218-47-28[2]. The developer credit had also changed: the later version of the site carried blocks for the DaVinci group of companies and the Design4 web studio, both with the wording "website creation and website promotion"[2].
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
The gallery took part in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote in 2004, where the site received one vote[3]. The site did not take a notable place in the Counter.nn.ru ranking: in the data of the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating, it holds no ranking position. For the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of those years this was an ordinary case: a site attached to an offline salon served above all as a storefront and address reference, and its own traffic did not stand out in the overall tally.
Later years and closure
By 2014, nothing remained of the online store — no catalog, no cart, no list of new arrivals — only the registration and password recovery links survived at the top of the page[2]. Their place was taken mainly by text about gifts and a description of the gallery: "The 'IDEAL SOLUTION' gift gallery is a genuine specialized workshop for selecting, and where necessary producing, original presents," as the home page stated[2]. The only news item on the page was dated 4 August 2009 and titled "Personalized Paintings" — meaning the news feed had gone unupdated for about five years[2].
The web archive's last snapshot of the home page was taken on 17 May 2014[2]; there is no information about the site moving to another address. The domain gifts.nnov.ru no longer serves the gallery's site.
