Subdomain Registration
Registration of third-level domains was free of charge. In autumn 2009, the "Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain" (ANO) decided to abolish geographic domain zones. For webmasters, this means that the company administering such a domain zone now has the right to charge fees for registration and maintenance.
A condition for domain registration is a registered and active technical support service.

- Tomsk, .tomsk.ru — 200 r.
- Kursk, .kursk.ru — 1,560 r. (Domain maintenance only as part of a hosting package).
- Nizhny Novgorod, .nnov.ru — 600 r. — these guys have gotten greedy
The .РФ domain
According to the Concept for Registering Second-Level Domain Names in the .РФ Domain, the domain names ОБЛ.РФ, ОБЛАСТЬ.РФ, КРАЙ.РФ, ОКРУГ.РФ, РЕСПУБЛИКА.РФ must be registered for state purposes, along with domain names corresponding to the names of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
