Battle for the Harvest (Battle with the Harvest) — a seasonal mobilization of Collective Farm for crop harvesting; the name of an annual propaganda campaign in print and electronic Mass Media of the Scoop, explaining the necessity of enlisting research workers, engineers from non-strategic enterprises, and students for agricultural work.
The main adversaries in the battle are seasonal rains and General Frost.
Pre-Soviet name: strada (the harvest season).
Whatever remains after the battle is handed over to the state, which vigilantly guards the harvest until it rots. In more recent times, the collected harvest is sold at throwaway prices to pay off as quickly as possible the fuel and agricultural machinery taken on credit.
