The Terraced Park in Pochaina Ravine is a multi-level public space being created in the Historic Center on the site of Pochainsky Ravine. Construction began in late 2023; the contract for the work was signed in October 2022.[2]

Composition and Design Solutions

The project calls for the construction of an amphitheater, recreation areas, a skate park, cycling and pedestrian routes, viewing platforms, and water features.[2] An integral part of the project is the reconstruction of the stormwater sewer collector and engineering stabilization of the ravine slopes. A tunnel is planned as an auxiliary structure in the vicinity of building No. 1A on Arkhitektora Kharitonova Street.[2]

Construction Progress

The works were originally scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, but the handover date was postponed several times. Construction was temporarily suspended due to the need to agree on an addendum to municipal contract No. 68 providing for changes to its material terms.[2] As of the end of June 2026, the facility's technical readiness stood at 65%.[1]

In early July 2026, construction of a new Pedestrian Bridge in Pochainsy Ravine began in the ravine: the supports had been installed and specialists were completing the welding of the span structure. Once the span was in place, the roadway surface was to be laid, railings installed, and lighting run, after which slope landscaping and the installation of small architectural features were to follow.[1]

Funding

In March 2026, an additional 1.1 billion rubles were allocated for the reconstruction of the collector and slope reinforcement.[2] According to the targeted investment list of municipal property facilities for 2026, more than 2.6 billion rubles were directed toward the improvement of the public space in 2026: 2,637,832,298 rubles from the The 2015 Budget of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and 29,316,896 rubles from the city budget.[1] In addition, 100 million rubles have been earmarked for the construction of the tunnel near Arkhitektora Kharitonova Street.[2]

Completion Timeline

As of August 2026, the park's opening has been pushed back to November 2026, while official documents list 2028 as the facility's handover date.[1]
