The State Archive of Nizhny Novgorod Region (official name: State казённое учреждение "State Archive of Nizhny Novgorod Region") is a regional archival institution with Arzamas. It holds documentary collections of organizations, institutions, and private individuals connected with the history of Arzamas Uyezd and adjacent territories.
Arzamas Branch
The Arzamas State Archive received its first collections in the early 1930s. In particular, the records of the Yekaterininskaya Women's Gymnasium were transferred into storage on 2 October 1933; the source of their transfer has not been established. The archive holds collections from pre-revolutionary institutions of Arzamas Uyezd: military-administrative bodies, fiscal and taxation authorities, organs of peasant self-government, and others.

Among the materials held are: Collection No. 118 of the Yekaterininskaya Women's Gymnasium (1,852 storage units covering 1868–1932, including files from 1936 containing copies of diplomas issued to replace lost originals); Collection No. 21 of the Office of the Arzamas Uyezd Military Commander (inventory No. 1, covering the period 1865–1918); Collection No. 36 of the Tax Inspector of the 2nd District of Arzamas Uyezd (inventory No. 1, covering the period 1896–1915); and Collection No. 4 of the Panovskoye Volost Administration of Arzamas Uyezd (inventory No. 1, covering the period 1862–1918).
