The map updates every fifteen seconds. Each aircraft icon is oriented along its heading, colour indicates the aircraft type, and a trail shows its track over the last ten minutes. Clicking an aircraft shows its route — where it is flying from and to.
Data comes from an open network of ADS-B receivers. Aircraft without a transponder, or with transmission switched off, do not appear on the map, so military aviation and some service aviation are not visible here.
