Semashko Street (formerly Martynovsky) — runs from Freedom Square to the Verkhne-Volzhskaya Embankment.

Named in honor of Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko (1874–1949) — a Soviet party figure, one of the organizers of Soviet public health care, and an academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences. In 1904–1906 he lived and worked in Nizhny Novgorod.
